Neighborhood Demographic Data

Researched and Compiled by Madeleine Nerio

The American Planning Association defines neighborhoods as “diverse, dynamic social and economic entities with unique characteristics, which are recognized by residents of both the neighborhood and community at large.  Neighborhoods are the strategic building blocks of overall community development….where collaborative planning requires understanding of the economic, social and physical characteristic in order to maintain both the sense of place and the sense of community.”

The Tier 1 Neighborhood Coalition has tasked itself to achieve a better understanding of the makeup of its coalition members. Below, one will find demographic data on San Antonio neighborhoods.  This information was obtained from the Bexar County Demographics and Reports website which draws its information from the 2010 US Census Bureau database. We want to recognize the the hard work of Madeleine  Nerio who researched and compiled this information at the requests of Tier One Neighborhood Coalition Steering Committee. We hope this information is helpful to our coalition members and other entities interested in the makeup of our San Antonio neighborhoods. Comments and questions should be directed to the T1NC contact e-mail address.
